North Carolina State Fair E. coli Outbreak

In late October, 2004, North Carolina health officials were notified of an E. coli O157:H7 outbreak that they traced back to the North Carolina State Fair. An epidemiological investigation into the E. coli outbreak led to a conclusion by public health officials that the outbreak was caused by interaction with animals at the Crossroads Farm Petting Zoo at the fair.
